TeleVisits are a more convenient appointment option where you can have a visit with our nurse practitioner, Ms. Emily Stratton, from the comfort of your home or workplace in 15 minutes or less.

TeleVisits are conducted using the Healow application on your mobile device.  Today, these appointments are specifically for controlled-substance medication reviews/refills. We expect to offer more services as we progress.

TeleVisits save you time by eliminating the need to physically come to our office to have your medications reviewed or pick-up your triplicates, while allowing us to provide excellent patient care and comply with federal laws. We can also electronically send your refills to your pharmacy during the TeleVisit.

Our aim is to save you the time and hassle of picking up your triplicates every month, while complying with federal laws and providing excellent patient care.

Please note this is a billable service. If this is not covered by your healthcare insurance, you will be responsible to cover the cost. We will charge your usual copay using credit card at the beginning of the visit.


To schedule a TeleVisit:

  1. Have the Healow app on your mobile device when booking your appointment.  You can download the Healow application from the Apple App Store (for iPhones) and Google Play Store (for Android Phones).

  2. Call our office to schedule a TeleVisit medication review/refill appointment at 310-360-6807. Please schedule your initial TeleVisit appointment at least 5 business days in advance of when you will run out of medication in case there are any technical difficulties.
  3. Please ensure you are enabled for a Healow account. (If you do not have an account, simply ask upon booking your appointment, or email the office at nurse@drdalemd.com. Please subject the email “TeleVisit Setup”)

  4. Have a credit card number ready for us to keep on file when you schedule. We will charge your usual copay (if using insurance) or $75 if not using insurance.


TeleVisit Patient Instructions:

  1. Make sure you have a mobile device that supports the Healow app, has a working microphone & camera, and can connect to the Internet.
  2. Log into the Healow app on your mobile device
  3. Select Appointments
  4. Select your TeleVisit
  5. Click “Start TeleVisit” to open the questionnaire (not all visits will include a questionnaire). Answer the questions provided then scroll down and click “Submit.”
  6. Next, enter any known vitals information. Scroll down to select “Submit Vitals.”
  7. Select “Start TeleVisit” to inform the provider that you are online and ready for your appointment.
  8. Once the provider starts the appointment, the video will show a self-view on the bottom right corner with the provider video in the main portion of the screen.
  9. You have the following controls on the bottom of the screen:
    • Pause the video being sent to the provider.
    • Mute/unmute your microphone.
    • Switch the camera view being shown to the provider.
    • Selecting the speech bubble- shaped chat icon on the top right hand corner will allow you to type a message to the provider. Selecting the video button returns to video view.

+ Who can use TeleVisits?


Controlled Substance Reviews: Patients who are currently prescribed controlled substances including narcotics (i.e. Norco, Hydrocodone, Vicodin etc.), benzodiazepines (i.e. Xanax/alprazolam and Ativan/lorazepam) and amphetamines/stimulants (i.e. Adderall, Vyvanse etc.). Through TeleVisits, we will conduct your medication refill/ review appointments every month. Keep in mind that if you have symptoms or concerns that require physical evaluation by a provider (such as chest pain, flu symptoms etc.), you must schedule a regular non- TeleVisit appointment.

+ Why should I use TeleVisits?


We implemented TeleVisits to save you time and make your life easier (while still complying with federal laws). Instead of coming to the office once a month to pick up your triplicates and see a provider every 4 months, you can simply now complete a 15 minute video call with our nurse practitioner. This can be done from work, home or wherever you can find a private space with internet access! After your visit, we will electronically send your prescription to your pharmacy. You will no longer need to bring a paper prescription to your pharmacy.

+ How do I schedule a TeleVisit?


Simply call our office to schedule an appointment. Make sure to state that you are scheduling a TeleVisit for medication reviews/refills. You will need to provide a credit card number for us to process payment for your TeleVisit. TeleVisit appointments cost $75 without insurance. For patients with insurance, we will charge your usual copay to the credit card and bill your insurance as usual.

+ I am a cash-pay patient. How much will TeleVisits cost/ how will the payment be processed?


Patients who pay cash need to have a credit card on file with our office because we cannot process cash or checks the visit. Please call our office to have a credit card put on file prior to your TeleVisit. For patients using insurance, you will be charged your usual copay at the beginning of the visit via credit card.
